It should come as no surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo’s customized Gulfstream 650 private jet has a maintenance cost that is, well,… expensive.
Ronaldo, who earned an estimated $1.92 billion over his trophy-filled career, naturally finished in third place on a list of the 50 highest-paid athletes of all time that was issued earlier this year.
According to Goal, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner makes $215 million (£177 million) a year with Al Nassr, a Saudi Pro League team.
He has previously spent a lot of money on a variety of vehicles, such as a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Ferrari 599 GTO, and a Lamborghini Aventador, but his largest acquisition to far may be a private jet.
Ronaldo reportedly owns a high-end Gulfstream plane valued at $73 million [£56 million].
He can go great distances without refueling because the plane can fly 7,500 nautical miles and accommodate up to 19 passengers, according to SimpleFlying.
For Ronaldo and his hectic schedule, the G650’s features include an optimized cabin altitude for healthier flights with less jet lag.
The cottage includes three living rooms and may accommodate up to ten people.
How much does maintenance cost, then? A Gulfstream 650 private jet’s annual budget for 200 hours of flight is roughly $1,860,909, or $2,995,763 for 400 hours, according to LibertyJet.
“The maximum speed of the Gulfstream 650 is 595 mph, but with slower climb, cruise and descending speeds it is more likely to average 476 mph, which would equate to an average cost per mile of approximately $19.55 at 200 hours per year,” says the journal.
“If you fly 400 hours per year, you can spread the total fixed costs over more flight hours which reduces your cost per mile to $15.73.”
